Introducing Restoration Scope: A First Look at Acción Andina’s Restoration Progress

We’re excited to announce the soft launch of Restoration Scope — Global Forest Generation’s brand-new interactive map designed to showcase the growing impact of Acción Andina across the Andes. This platform offers a visual window into the work of thousands of people who are coming together to restore the world’s highest-elevation native forests.
With Restoration Scope, you can:
- Explore where restoration is happening — country by country
- See data on hectares restored and conserved, nurseries established, and number of trees planted
- Learn about each local project, led by Indigenous and local partners
- Track our verified progress across a region critically impacted by climate change
Why This Map Matters
At GFG, we believe restoration is most powerful when it’s rooted in local leadership, cultural knowledge, and global transparency. Restoration Scope was created to reflect that. It’s not just a tool to show what we’ve done — it’s a tool to help us do better, together. It’s been built from years of fieldwork, collaboration, and meticulous data cleaning. And while we’re still refining and updating it with new data, this soft launch offers a verified baseline of our restoration progress to date.
A Note on the Data
The data shown in Restoration Scope reflects our most thoroughly reviewed and verified results. Because reviewing and analyzing field data takes time, numbers here may differ from preliminary figures you’ve seen elsewhere — especially in real-time reports that include the most recent planting.
We believe both are important:
- Preliminary data gives a timely picture of where we’re headed
- Restoration Scope ensures the long-term record of what we’ve achieved
What’s Next
This is just the beginning. Over time, Restoration Scope will be updated more frequently to provide near real-time insights and help guide our strategy on the ground. We hope it will also be a resource for our partners, donors, and anyone who wants to better understand how restoration works — and what it takes to scale it.
