Defending Forests from Fire

Fires can quickly threaten ecosystems, water security, and entire communities. Fire brigades in Bolivia are working on the frontlines with local communities, including an all-women’s group called the Warmi Kewiñas, to prevent and respond to fires, protecting the landscapes they call home. By combining local knowledge with practical training, these teams help safeguard forests, water sources, and the communities that depend on them. A special thank you to the United Nations for their support in creating this video.

This short video highlights the vital collaboration between international support and local action. Working alongside Acción Andina’s dedicated partners Faunagua and Armonía, GFG remains committed to empowering these local heroes as they defend Bolivia’s unique biodiversity and secure a sustainable future for the high Andes.
