At Global Forest Generation, our work focuses on building the systems, partnerships, and long-term support needed for ecosystem restoration to succeed. In this edition, you’ll read how our flagship initiative, Acción Andina, is translating that approach into action across the Andes through strengthened water access, community-led livelihoods, and forest restoration.
In this edition, you’ll find recent media highlights, donor updates, and stories from the field, along with news from our growing leadership. We’re also very excited to welcome Miles Freeland to our Visionary Council and Federico Bellone to our Board of Directors! |

• Since 2022 through their TUI Forests programme, TUI Care Foundation has supported projects in Peru and Colombia, helping dozens of communities plant over one million trees. • Avery Dennison Foundation’s partnership advances long-term care for forests and water across the Andes through the ADF grant, which has helped to empower 35 project leaders and 210 project coordinators and nursery staff. • Arbor Day Foundation, a long-time supporter since 2020, helped plant 29,750 native trees in Calipuy during the 2025 season, bringing their total contribution to 420,750 trees. |

Your Impact in Action: The Latest from Our Restoration Initiative, Acción Andina |

Continent-Wide Impact in the Andes
|
Last quarter, Acción Andina partners advanced community-led restoration across the Andes, combining reforestation, water stewardship, and local livelihoods. Communities came together to plant tens of thousands of native trees in a single day, while 10 projects continue to implement water resource management activities to strengthen access to freshwater in water-stressed regions.
From restoring high-Andean forests that help recharge springs, to supporting income-generating activities tied to forest care, these efforts show how Acción Andina translates long-term restoration into real, measurable impact for people and ecosystems, season by season, across the Andes. |
Chimborazo, Ecuador: Water Born from the Mountain |
In Chimborazo, monitoring by local partner Andean Adventures shows that Polylepis reforestation is helping recharge high-Andean springs, bringing reliable running water to homes and schools for the first time. The shift eases the daily burden of hauling water, especially for women, children, and elders, and is turning restored forests into living classrooms where care for the mountain is directly linked to life in the valley. |
Microenterprise & Environmental Education in Calipuy and Tarija |
Across the initiative, Acción Andina partners support community-led livelihoods that strengthen local economies while caring for forests. |
|
|
In Calipuy, Peru, embroidery workshops enable mothers to weave images of Polylepis forests into traditional textiles, turning ancestral craft into environmental education. In Tarija, Bolivia, beehives distributed to local families create new income while reinforcing the value of intact forests, where healthy ecosystems support pollinators, honey production, and long-term resilience. |
“Planting a plant is giving life for the world, because we won't just benefit the community who plants them - water reaches everyone.” — Laura Punina (Yatzaputzán) |
Thanks to you and all of our Acción Andina supporters, GFG has disbursed US$ 2,595,483 this season to date, helping drive reforestation, strengthen water security projects, and support community-led restoration across the Andes. |

Climate change isn't a distant threat. It's here. |
The planet needs you. Forest fires are an increasing threat across the Andes. Acción Andina partners are focused on prevention and rapid response, training community-led brigades and strengthening on-the-ground defenses to protect restored forests. From maintaining fire lines and fencing in Córdoba, Argentina, to emergency response and seedling protection during wildfires in Ecuador, these efforts help safeguard forests during the most vulnerable moments.
At Global Forest Generation, we believe the future of our planet is still in our hands — and every action we take today matters. That's where you step in. Real restoration happens month by month, season by season. By becoming a monthly supporter, you stand alongside the communities protecting their forests and water for generations to come. Your steady commitment helps turn small, consistent action into lasting impact - one tree, one watershed, one future at a time. |
|
|
|
We’re honored to have you with us in this generation of restoration. You're helping secure a thriving future for people, forests, and watersheds alike. Sincerely, |
